Gatomboya was created in 1987 under the Mathira farmers’ cooperative society (FCS). Together with four other mills; Karindundu, Gaturiri, and Karatina. These coffee "factories" form the Barichu Cooperative Society.  This washing station consistently produces excellent coffees in part due to their commitment to continual training and also in part to their efficient management structure.

We are extremely excited to be able to offer this coffee. You can think of coffee varietals in the same way you would think of grape varietals. Some people enjoy pinot noir others prefer Schönburger. This particular coffee is a widely grown varietal in Kenya called SL-28. SL-28 is known for its excellent quality, deep acidity and its complexity in the cup. Sl-28 is one of our favorites.
