When coffee first came to Java from Yemen, most of it was grown in Java Sunda, West Java. But over the years the coffee trees have been replaced by other agricultural crops such as cabbage, onions, rice, and carrots.

This Java is from the original coffee growing  region and contains beans from the old typica trees along with some newer varietals like Ateng and Jember. This coffee is apart of our importers direct trade program. The price of the coffee is negotiated at the farm, with the farmers and not with a regional exporter. They guarantee that prices paid to the farmer be at least 50% higher than fair trade with the reality being closer to 100% higher. What we really loved about this Java when we first cupped it was its bright lemon acidity along with a rich lemon zest and brown sugar sweetness. The body is thick and syrupy.
